Of course the best bit of advice that can be given when closet organizing is, “Do you really need all those clothes?” The main reason that you need closet organization systems is… you have too many clothes. Before you purchase anything, first decide what is out of date, which are ragged, and which have buttons missing or zippers which don’t work any more. It’s amazing how many things you own that you really don’t need.

Start by throwing things away. If there’s a stain, throw it out; if it’s torn, toss it. Missing buttons? Throw it away. If you have a rag-bag, CUT IT IN HALF. So many times you’ll have the courage to throw it out, then you’ll see it again and you’ll go, “Maybe someday I’ll mend that”. That’s why you’ve collected so many articles of clothing over the years. If you cut it in half, now, then it won’t just end up back in your closet again in another five minutes.

After you’ve gone through the things the first time and thrown away junk, go through them a second time. This time, think in a different way. This time think, “Will I ever wear this? Is this out of date?” If you’ve had it for ten years, then there’s absolutely no time you will ever wear it again, time has passed and that style is over. It’s time to admit things. “I will never be able to fit into that dress, ever again!” might be the reason. If it’s three sizes too small, it’s time to throw it away.

Closet organizing has everything to do with how much space you already have. If you have two walk-in closets, then you’ll have a completely different task than if you just have one small closet.

If your only closet is a tiny one, then you might consider getting an external closet that can augment the first.

If you have one walk-in closet that already has two shelves above the clothes hanger rack, then getting zipper garment bags or blanket bags, which tend to be bigger and stronger, to organize things. Sweater boxes can also help when you’re organizing closets. Just because something is called a ’sweater box’ doesn’t mean that you can only store sweaters in them. Closet organizing can be greatly helped by purchasing simple containers and then filling them up.

Also, there are generic plastic shoe boxes, and other shapes and sizes of boxes that you can choose from. Just go a Walmart store and find the area where they have such boxes. Before you go, measure the width of the gap which will allow you to slide the box onto the shelf. If it won’t fit through that gap, then it won’t be much use to you.

When you finally say, “I want to organize my closet!” then do it that day. So many things in life are good intentions. Taking action is what is needed. Instead of just thinking, or saying, “I really have to organize this closet some day!” make that day be today.

If you need new closet ideas, use the internet to supply those ideas, or go to your friend’s house and while you’re visiting ask, “How do you keep your closets organized?” Sometimes your friends have already done such things; and their efforts might help you. That’s why you have friends, after all. They might lead you in the right direction. So, when you’re doing closet organizing, think about what you can throw out. Think of what containers you might purchase which will organize the shelves that you already have.

You might be sick of having closets that pile out into your room every time that you open up the door. If so, help is just around the corner. Google should always be the main entry-point that you should use whenever you’re trying to do new things. Closet organization systems that work for you tend to be brought together from different sources until you’ve integrated your needs.

Type http://www.Google.com into the URL Address box of Internet Explorer (or whatever internet browser you use, such as Opera, Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and press the RETURN key. In the search gadget, type ‘closet organizing’. There are many things out there that will help when you’re organizing closets.

If you go down a few lines, under those first three choices that they give you, you oftentimes will get a list of four or five examples that might cause that old, “Aha!” light bulb to go off in your head.

On my computer, a ClosetMaid unit shows up for $89.97, new, from the Home Depot. See? Already you got a hint. You suddenly remember that you have a Home Depot close-by. They might have high prices, but you can at least use them to get some ideas on what you might like.

Remember that stores figure that you want to modify things when you’re designing a closet, therefore they sometimes give you things without any paint on them. Plain wood units that you assemble yourself are great because you can paint them to match the décor in your room. Closet organization systems can be built from different sources, this way, then be painted so that they all seem to match, in the end.

But, going to the internet saves you from physically going to Home Depot. I click on that link and it brings me to “ClosetMaid Selectives T4 White 25 Inch Wide Custom Closet Organizer. It gets 4.4 stars out of five (which sounds really good until you see that only one person left hat review). So, here, it shows that it’s a kit, and that it’s “really easy to assemble”. That’s a really inexpensive price, but just that one shelf won’t organize your whole closet.

That kind of shelf might be appropriate for putting folded things into a closet, which is impossible to do, otherwise. However, how about something to organize a thousand shoes that lie all over the closet floor?

You need to have a wide selection of different kinds of things. The one that comes to mind is a system that allows you to automatically rotate things from the back to the front like they sometimes show on movies. So, if that didn’t bring up many choices that are suitable, try typing “organize my closet”

Sometimes there are long boards that are already in your closet up-above the hanger dowel. If you were to purchase things like Garment or sweater bags can be gotten with a zipper that will help you organize that area of your closet without having to pay an arm-and-leg.

When you’re trying to think of new closet ideas, try typing things like:

“do-it-yourself’” closet ideas

into the search engine. Adding ‘do-it-yourself- will generally bring you things which are more unfinished. You might also try adding the word ‘kit’ or ‘kits’ to the search that you’re doing. Thus, closet organization systems can be put together from separate sources, then all be painted as if they all came that way.

When you’re organizing closets, you should consider different kinds of closet organization systems, but maybe ‘yard sale’ should be considered before ‘lumber’ is contemplated.

Not only do you have items of clothing that might be sold, but what about your son’s old bicycle. Now that he’s grown and in college, he probably will never use it again. When you think, ” organize my closet”, also think, “organize my life”. Momentum is hard to initiate, and once it’s initiated, that energy can go into many different directions.

Create a pile of clothes that you will throw out, a pile that you’ll put in the rag bag because they’re really absorbent, a pile that will go to the GoodWill store, and a pile that will go into a yard sale. Generally, it’s best to have a couple yard sales, maybe in successive weekends, and then after they’re all over take the rest of what didn’t sell to the GoodWill store.

Finally, you should go through your clothes another time and say, “If I haven’t worn this in the last two years, do I really need it?” Try it on and see if it still fits properly. If it doesn’t, put it in the most appropriate pile.

Finally, you should organize. Put all the jackets in one place, all of the dresses, all of the skirts in another place, all of the pants should have their own pants hangers, all of the blouses should be in the same place. You might even arrange them by color so you can find them easily.

Closet organizing doesn’t necessarily mean ‘buy something’, it oftentimes just means ‘organize better’. If you can minimize what you have down to the point where things hang without bunching up, then you have succeed. You’ll have to iron things far less than you did before, and things will be ordered and neat.

Consider giving away things. You have lots of friends and you know what their tastes are. Make one load of clothes that you think your sister might like, and another which you think the lady down the street might like.

When you’re trying to think of closet ideas, the thing that can really help organize your closet, fast, is to get a good shoe rack. They don’t have to be expensive, either. The wire racks that they make work just fine. They sometimes are tiered so that the shoes in the back row are higher than the shoes in the front row. When organizing closets, shoe racks can quickly order things.

You generally will just have to throw shoes away, though. People don’t like buying shoes because they don’t know whether the person had athlete’s feet, or not. Also, the bacteria that causes foot odor can be transferred from one person to another. Unless you have really expensive designer shoes, people won’t want your shoes, so just toss them.

There’s a point where your closets get so bad you just want to scream, “Organize my Closet”. If you had a maid, then that would be easier, but you don’t have a maid. When it comes to closet organizing, unless YOU do it, it isn’t going to get done.

The only thing that you can do is, do it yourself. When you’re watching that episode of ‘Office’ for the fortieth time, then that’s a good time to do it.

Lets see if we can organize your organization:

1. Go to your closet. That’s always step one. You are on the fast track to “organize my closet”!

2. Start making decisions. First, go through and throw away the hardest to throw away. Those are the ones which you wear all the time, but they’re just worn out. Because you love it so much, you’ll wear it until it falls off your body. Come on, give it up. If it’s all faded and torn, it’s time to throw it out.

3. Next; if you haven’t touched a garment in more than a year, that’s a clue. You oftentimes don’t’ want to throw something out because it was so expensive. “I never wore this!” can keep you from throwing out things forever. To overcome that feeling, put them in a pile and give them to charities. They oftentimes will come right to your house, and you’ll be helping, twice. The person who buys it will get a good deal and the people who sell it will raise money for the poor.

4. Go through your garments at least three times. The first time through you should throw away junk. The second time through you should throw away what you never wear. The third time through you should throw away what you’ve outgrown.

5. Get some boxes or zipper-bags that will help you organize such things as sweaters, sweatshirts, blankets or unused clothing. They have zippered bags that are multipurpose.

6. Get Wire Organizers to organize your closet. Wire organizers are very inexpensive. You can get wire organizers that can hold your pants all in a row on just one hanger. You can get wire organizers that hold your shoes. Wire organizers are the cheapest, and easiest to install. There are wire organizers which have multiple hangers all on one hanger. there are tons of closet ideas out there.

7. Consider purchasing closet organization systems. These will order and organize your things in a very solid way. They’re generally made of wood, or something solid such as fiberboard or metal.

8. When organizing closets, consider ordering all of your clothing by type. Put all of your pants in one place, all of your blouses in another, all of your jackets in the most inaccessible location.

9. Order things so that the things that you use the most are in the most easily-accessible location. Don’t stuff things that you use every day way at the back of the closet.

10. Search the internet for new closet ideas. When you wish to reduce the clutter, other people have already done it for you. There are hundreds of websites out there which will help in your attempt to clean out and order your closets. So, when you’re ready to scream, “Organize My Closet”, remember that it’s YOUR closet and start doing it today.

When you are looking for closet ideas, the internet is the best place to look.

Hanging organizers can really expand your closet space. They have wire organizers which, in the room it takes to just hang one hanger, can organize long strings of things. A series of six hangers that hinge all off one hanger can be used. That means that six garments can be put in the same place that one was in, before.

Wire baskets can really help. They weigh nothing, tend to be able to fold up when you’re not using them, and yet organize things. Wire baskets are great closet ideas because you can still see whats inside them. Wicker can also be used.

If your closet doesn’t already have shelves, adjustable wire shelving can really extend your closet area. It used to be that they would place a wood plank that was greater than 12 inches wide all along the top of the closet area, but wood has gotten to be very expensive now-a-days. Wire shelving lets you organize things without adding lots of weight in the form of the shelf, itself. There are many wire closet organization systems you can choose from.

You might consider changing the height of the rod. If you install the kind of rod holder that lets you pull the dowel out the top, and then you install many different height rod holders, then you will be able to adjust the height of the rods. Rod holders don’t cost much at Home Depot. If you installed four sets of rod holders one-above-the-other then you could change the height as your kids grow, for example.

Plastic boxes or bins are a great way to organize. In our closet we got polyurethane barrels. They can be gotten in many different sizes, and you can fold things neatly and pile them up inside the barrel. The barrels are a white translucent color with a sturdy cover and cost about $30 per barrel for a 30 gallon drum. You might then transport those closes out to the garage instead of having them inside your closet. The tight cover will keep odors from entering the barrel, and they can be easily stacked.

So, when you’re trying to get closet ideas, type “Organize my Closet” in the search engine. Remember that closet organization systems can be built in a modular manner. If you’re the kind of person that needs more shelf space than hanger space, then install separated cubbyholes or pull-out drawers. Have half of your closet be cubbyholes, shelves and drawers and the other half be hangers.

Sometimes hangers will cause worse wrinkles than shelves or cubbyholes would, depending on the different kinds of clothes that you wear.

Closet organizing should allow you to separate the different kinds of things you have into different sections. If the organizational method that you use keeps different kinds of things physically separated from each other, then maybe you will never have to organize your closet ever again. After all, gaining the momentum necessary for organizing closets isn’t’ fun. We all tend to procrastinate.
